Porcelain Enamel Polish –
The kitchen sink is used daily and that makes it vulnerable to quick wear and tear. Whether it has been stained from spaghetti sauce from dinner, washing the dishes, dying your kid’s T-shirt black, or grating carrots, it is going to get soiled. There are a few things you can do to keep it looking its best. Porcelain tends to scratch and stain easier than most other materials used for sinks, but it can still look great with the proper care and maintenance. Here are a few simple steps to help you clean and polish your porcelain sink so it always looks great. Most of the items needed can be found at home improvement or hardware stores.
Step 1 – Clean and Rinse
Start the process of cleaning the sink by removing old dishes, debris. Scrub off topical stains by using a sponge or scouring pad. Do not scrub too hard, it may scratch the sink.
Rinse the sink with warm water and blot dry with paper towels.
Sprinkle a small amount of porcelain cleaning agent. Test the cleaning agent in a small area of the sink to make sure it does not leave a mark or damage the porcelain. Using the toothbrush or nail brush and in a circular motion, spread the cleaner throughout the sink. Be sure to spread it evenly over the faucet, the base of the faucet and the other appliances on the sink like a sprayer, etc. For harder stains try a lime removing agent.
Step 2- Leave Powder
Apply the powder and let the powder sit for between 2-5 minutes depending on the depth of the stains. Then, rinse the powder with warm water thoroughly. Wipe the excess powder with a dry cloth or paper towel.
Step 3 – Polish
Use a special polishing agent designed for porcelain to restore the porcelain and make it shine. You can also use a few drops of baby oil rubbed into the sink with a clean cloth.
Step 4 – Maintenance
Follow up with the same steps whenever you see that the sink starts to look dull. A kitchen sink needs daily loving care since it is one of the most widely used items in the home. If it is maintained properly, it should last you for a long time to come and will not have to be replaced for years.
